WELCOME TO Taigh Druim
Situated at the edge of the small village of Elgol, on the hill overlooking the magnificent Cuillin mountains and the small islands of Rùm, Eigg, Canna and Soay, this self-catering holiday cottage is in a truly stunning location.
Elgol is at the point of the Strathaird peninsula on the southern part of Skye, the end of a single track road which runs from the village of Broadford. Along the way you pass through the picturesque village of Torrin, round the head of Loch Slapin with the celebrated Bla Bheinn mountain on the right. As you descend into Elgol the breathtaking view opens up.
Several small fishing boats operate from the pier supplying the island and beyond. There is the opportunity to take one of the two small craft to the famous Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin passing a seal colony on route, from where the experienced hill walkers/climbers can strike out into the surrounding mountains or have a picnic by the loch and return by the same boat 1½ hours later.
Skye has many, many miles of inspiring coastal walks and some of the best are on the doorstep with rocky coast, cliffs, caves, birds, sealife and the ever changing Skye weather.
Local people are rightly proud of the area and are always happy to give helpful advice to visitors. The village has a small shop, cafe and restaurant with the co-op supermarket, petrol station, pubs and restaurants at Broadford (15miles).
